Tennis for Lympstone

Christmas Lunch - 5th December 2009

Dear All

Christmas Lunch at The Redwing

23 members attended Christmas Lunch on 5th December at the Redwing and we were very well looked after by the staff. John Fisher took some photos of people in silly hats reading corny jokes and generally having a good time. The weather was extremely wet and so members tended to stay at the pub rather than proceed to the courts !  Tony and Wendy did play in the rain and were soaked through but happy. That's dedication for you.

Mulled Wine and Mince Pies

It was mulled wine at the Club yesterday and we had a good turnout, playing on till 5.00 pm under the floodlights.  There may have been snow elsewhere, but the weather in Lympstone was dry and sunny and we had some very enjoyable tennis. A good selection of home-made and commercial mince pies were on offer to accompany the mulled wine, and the Clubroom was pervaded with a most agreeable spicy aroma ! (We did have tea as well of course). Keith was declared the mince pie champion as he was in need of sustainance after delivering all his Christmas Cards round the village. Well done to all for bringing delicious goodies and contributing to a most pleasant afternoon.

Well, that's it for this season.  It's Winter Solstice today and the sun is on its way back from tomorrow.

Wishing you a Happy Christmas and a Prosperous New Year.
