Late Summer News!

CONGRATULATIONS to our Ladies’ B and Men’s teams who have won their respective divisions and gained promotion. What a fantastic double achievementfor our club! The Mixed team finished strongly in their first season in Division 3 to avoid relegation, but the Ladies’ A found the going just a bit too tough in their first season in Division 1 and will have to try and win Division 2 again next year! Well done to everyone who has represented our teams this season and we are already looking forward to Winter League tennis, where we have entered Ladies’ Men’s and Mixed teams. We are always happy to welcome new players, so if you would like to be considered for any of the teams, please come along to a club session or contact the respective Winter Captains, who are Sue Norman suenorman17@gmail.com and Tean Hurley teanrt@gmail.com Ladies, Rob Hilton berthilton@hotmail.co.uk for the Men’s and Will Harvey willsharvey@gmail.com for the Mixed.

In case you thought the tennis season was coming to an end, there’s MORE for all at Lympstone Tennis Club – we are an all year venue. Don’t forget Club Sessions run all year on Tuesday evenings and Saturday afternoons.
MORE Junior Coaching with our new coach Tom Kinch. The summer programme was so successful that Tom can’t wait to run another block of 6 sessions in the autumn. These will start on Saturday 14 September and will cost £15 to existing junior members, with an additional half year’s membership of £7 for non-members aged 8 and over. Please contact Jenni Gates jennigatestherapy@gmail.com by 31 August to reserve your place.

MORE Adult Coaching with Ollie Sharpe will start again on Thursday 12 September and will run for 6 weeks at a cost of £30 to members. Please email jilldixon100@hotmail.com by 31 August to book your place. An end of course
survey sent to participants showed that members were keen to see the groups balanced more for ability, so Ollie will try and achieve that, as far as possible.

MORE Cardio with Ollie to come after October half term. If you took part earlier this year, you’ll probably want to sign up again. If you missed out last time, make sure you look out for details nearer the time, on the website
www.lympstonetc.co.uk. and on the notice board nearest the main court entrance. MONDAY NIGHT IS CARDIO NIGHT!

LIVING IN LYMPSTONE – Community Event, Sunday 22 September. This event, which is still in the final planning stages, is designed to showcase the rich variety of organisations available in Lympstone and is particularly aimed at
residents new to the village. We will be taking a stand in the Village Hall and, weather permitting, we hope to run a tennis event for the children between 4 and 6pm and a Triples event for adults between 6 and 8pm. We will need
volunteers to help the club, on the stand and on court, and the organisers would also appreciate help with setting up (from 2pm) and running the event, as well as clearing away after 8pm. If you are able to help in any way to make this a successful event, please email liz@claylane.com . More general information on the event will be coming soon.

As we are already seeing leaves on the courts, please raise the nets after play from now on. Thank you.

Enjoy your all season tennis!
